Visit from NASA's Col. Shane Kimbrough

Col. Shane Kimbrough, a current NASA astronaut paid a visit to the Crawford Observatory today as part of his whirlwind tour of Cork. A group of lucky undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as staff members, crammed into the observatory for an intimate Q\&A session. Shane's tip of the day was "to pursue whatever is your passion, you never know where it will lead".

New Group Member

Owen McConnell, recent graduate of Queen's University Belfast, has joined the group as a PhD student. The focus of his thesis will be on the mass determinations of primary stars in cataclysmic variables.
