First Announcement


The Initial Value Problem in General Relativity, Numerical Relativity and Scale-free Dynamics

Celebrating the work of Niall Ó Murchadha, on

24th-25th May, 2018, in

University College Cork (UCC), Ireland

Please join us in a celabration of the work of our colleague Niall O'Murchadha,
in a Festschrift in his honour.

It will be held in UCC where Niall has taught for more than 40 years. It is hoped that it will be an occasion for Niall's students, collaborators and friends to enjoy discussions with Niall and with each other and to discuss current progress and prospects in the research areas to which he has contributed so strongly in his career, especially the initial value problem in General Relativity.

Location - University College Cork, Ireland.
The main campus of UCC is on the south bank of the river Lee in Cork city, southwestern Ireland. Built around a Victorian gothic core the campus is now the heart of a successful research University. The physics department is housed in a building on the former site of the county jail, complete with its memorials to Ireland's revolutionary past. Cork city is close to many of Ireland's most famous tourist attractions, including the nearby Blarney stone. The city itself is built on an island between branches of the river and is known for its fine setting and its large natural harbor.
