Transition Years !
Welcome to the UCC Department of Physics homepage
for Transition Year Students. This page is being updated, and
currently contains two important items of information.
(i) Interested in doing a degree in Physics in UCC ? Want to find out
whats its like as an undergraduate ?
In March every year, the Physics Department in UCC holds a "Transition Year
Week", where students come and spend a week in the Department during
term-time. They get a chance to talk to lecturers and students,
attend labs and lectures, and generally find out what its like to
work in a Physics Department. If you are interested in doing this,
please email physics@ucc.ie for more details.
(ii) Are you, your class or teachers, interested in doing a
Transtion Year Course in Astronomy ?
In collaboration with Physics teachers and Science Foundation Ireland,
the Physics Department in UCC has recently launched a new Transition Year
Module in Astronomy. This is designed to last 1-2 terms, and is
based on a series of "hands-on" demos and practicals. The module
can be found here
(this is a 10 Mb file).
More information will be added to this page in months to come.
